ABOUT MATERIALS AND TECHNOLOGY
Digital Dentistry
llumination Dental Arts has gone digital!
We are proud to talk about our new laboratory and all of our fun new toys! With the addition of an Amann Girrbach digital 5-axis milling system and a Nextdent 3D printer we now can create all of our restorations in-house. This gives us start to finish control over every product that leaves our office. In addition to traditional restorations, the new equipment allows us to offer a more extensive menu of services for our dental offices. Some of the new services are full zirconia crowns, 3D printed surgical guides, and clear orthodontic aligners. We are delighted that we can also now receive digital impressions from our Dental offices, saving you time and money. The future is so bright in our lab you might want to bring your shades!
Zirconia
Zirconia (zirconium dioxide) is a white, powdered metal oxide. It is a ceramic, such as other general dental crown materials. Zirconia is produced from zirconium, a substance with similar properties to titanium. Zirconium is chemically un-reactive making it a good choice for the dental material.
Zirconia has several properties that enable it to be a good option for dental crown material. Some of these beneficial properties include:
- High hardness.
- A natural, white color.
- Resistance to wear.
- High fracture toughness (zirconia is difficult to crack).
- Translucent appearance when sintered (baked).
- Resistance to oxidation.
- No chemical corrision
Diagnostic Wax-ups
A diagnostic wax up is a fantastic sales and design tool for your complicated or advanced cosmetic cases.
A diagnostic wax up:
- Allows you to give your patients a “real world” view of their expected restorative results.
- Provides easy fabrication of esthetic temporary restorations.
- Allows any changes to design or shape to be quickly made giving your patient involvement in their case.
- Will approximate the final restorations, and allow your patient to experience their new smile while the final restorations are being fabricated.
- For Neuromuscular cases, changes to the patient’s vertical dimension are easily made with temporaries, and can be quickly adjusted if necessary.
Ceramic Crowns
IPS e.max is a lithium disilicate glass ceramic that has optimized translucency, durability and strength for full anatomical restorations. Due to the use of new technologies and optimized processing parameters, IPS e.max lithium disilicate has evolved beyond previously available lithium disilicate ceramics.
IPS e.max lithium disilicate restorations exhibit superior durability featuring 360-400 MPa of flexural strength. When fabricated to full-contour, the monolithic structure is the most robust ceramic system tested to date. The opalescence, translucency and light diffusion properties of IPS e.max lithium disilicate were all designed to replicate natural tooth structure for beauty and undetectable restorations.
Fixed Restoration Materials Education
We would like to introduce our boutique style dental laboratory
and what our products and services can bring to your office.
Please allow us to explain our fixed restorations, update you on current industry materials and explain how to increase your case acceptance.
This is a 1-hour presentation and Q & A session with either breakfast or lunch included.
The goal with this presentation is to:
- Explain the different types of materials involved with fixed restorations.
- Introduce the most current industry techniques and materials.
- Explain the use and placement of different types of restorations.
- Demonstrate how to set up a cosmetic
This class is only available to Dental Offices within a 200 mile radius of Rapid City, SD.
